SAM SMOKE SETS THOROUGHBID’S JUNE SALE ALIGHT

Jul 1, 2026

ThoroughBid's June Sale saw Sam Smoke take top spot as top lot. £5,000 P2R Bonus-eligible mare arrived off the back of a win on her latest point-to-point start, and buyers took note, with the four-year-old Scorpion mare snapped up by Marcus Collie and Tom Ward for £18,000.

If she can carry her winning Irish pointing form into a first run under Rules, her new connections  will secure a tidy £5,000 bonus, courtesy of ThoroughBid’s Point-2-Rules Bonus scheme.

Also drawing plenty of attention was Duffle Coat. Gordon Elliott’s nine-year-old had represented Cullentra admirably for years, landing a Cheltenham Grade Two and had run in last year’s Grand National, Irish Grand National and at the Cheltenham Festival.

He was knocked down to Darren McAlinden for £11,500, and we’ll follow the next step of his career with great interest.

The popular Henry de Bromhead-consigned The Folkes Tiara found a new home with Irish bloodstock agent Darren O’Dwyer picking him up for £8,000. The Listed-winning ten-year-old will now head for the British point-to-point fields, with jockey Connor Brace set to campaign him.

ThoroughBid was pleased to see former star jockey, Tom Scudamore, successfully consign his  Walzertakt store gelding, bought by agent Matt O’Connor  for £7,000.
