RICCI TRIO EXCHANGE HANDS AT MAY SALE

May 30, 2024

Thursday 30th May, 2024 – Three Ricci-owned runners in the care of Willie Mullins sold at ThoroughBid’s May Sale today, headed by Paul Marvel who went for £15,500 to Hannah Roach.

Figaroc, a 135-rated Listed-placed chaser for Mullins last season, was bought by Alexandra Dunn’s West Buckland operation for £8,500, while Feu Du Bresil heads to Hugo Merienne’s French base. Another Mullins-trained runner, Henn See, a winner over hurdles and fences, will also be joining Dunn’s yard.

Six-year-old Shantou gelding Red Hugh, last seen finishing third over two miles at Tipperary, was another standout lot, eventually going for £15,000 to Nick Carter.

On the Flat, emerging agent Frederik Tylicki, who sourced Derby hopeful Ambiente Friendly, took the Charlie Fellowes-trained Hieloray, while Jerry McGrath and Ben Lund were also successful with bids on a day which saw 15 of the 26 lots available sell.

CEO of ThoroughBid, James Richardson, said: “ThoroughBid continues to be entrusted with the sale of the Ricci’s horses and I’m delighted that they’ve all sold well again today. Hopefully, they will give their new connections plenty of success. It was also great to see new faces on the buyers’ list including Freddy Tylicki and Hussain AlDossary, the latter from Kuwait securing a Havana Gold two-year-old destined for Saudi Arabia, again highlighting the global reach of ThoroughBid. Our next sale is on June 25th.”
