QUEEN MARY RUNNER ENGLEMERE ADDS EXCITEMENT FOR THOROUGHBID
Jun 18, 2024
Tuesday 18th June, 2024 - It’s set to be an exciting week for ThoroughBid, Racing’s Online Auction House, who will be represented by their second Royal Ascot runner in the shape of ENGLEMERE.
Purchased at ThoroughBid’s first ever Online Yearling Sale, the daughter of Goken, who is trained by George Boughey, will contest Wednesday’s Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes.
She was last seen winning a Class 2 Novice Stakes at Carlisle, her second career success in three starts having also scored at Catterick.
Last year, ThoroughBid facilitated the sale of a 50% share in Thunderbear, who was an eye-catcher when running on late to finish eighth in the G3 Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot, and has since gone on to win the Group 3 World Trophy Stakes at Newbury.
ThoroughBid have also confirmed that the Online Yearling Sale will be back for a second year, taking place on Wednesday 13th November.
CEO of ThoroughBid, James Richardson, said: “The success of Englemere has certainly shown that there were gems to be unearthed from our first ever Online Yearling Sale. She looked a nice filly on paper, being from a family with plenty of speed, and we look forward to cheering her on at Royal Ascot.
“After a successful debut last year, our Online Yearling Sale will be returning in 2024, taking place on Wednesday 13th November. We had a very busy afternoon of bidding, with accounts from all over the globe logging in to try and find a nice yearling.”
