MULLINS TO TREAD SAME FOXHUNTERS PATH WITH ITS ON THE LINE

Mar 26, 2024

Tuesday 26th March, 2024 – Emmet Mullins has told ThoroughBid he must have “got a bit lucky” in picking up dual Cheltenham Festival runner-up Its On The Line for just £8,000.

Now owned by JP McManus, Its On The Line was purchased by Emmet Mullins at racing’s online auction house in March 2022 and has since won four races, including the Punchestown Champion Hunters Chase, and almost £50,000 in prize money.

Following consecutive seconds in last week’s St. James's Place Festival Challenge Cup Open Hunters' Chase, Mullins said: “We have had to settle for second again, but it was a good run. As you can see, he can be a quirky horse but he’s got plenty of ability.

Commenting on future plans, Mullins added: “We went onto Aintree last season and then he came back to Punchestown, where he won the Champion Foxhunters, and I imagine he’ll be tackling both of those big meetings again. Hopefully we can get his head in front again at one of those big spring festivals.”

Remembering the day he purchased Its On The Line, Mullins said: “Getting him for just £8,000 through ThoroughBid was a great. It’s all worked out very nicely and I suppose we got a bit lucky really. We liked him and we made sure we were set and ready to bid for him online, and we were delighted to get him. I can’t tell you exactly why we went for him, otherwise I’d be giving away all my secrets and I might not be able to get horses like him in the future!”

ThoroughBid’s next sale takes place on Tuesday 30th April.
