May 18, 2023 · June Sale

Thursday 18th May, 2023 – High-class hurdle and chase winner Ramillies will go under ThoroughBid’s online hammer in just under three weeks’ time at the June Sale on Wednesday 7th June. Entries for the sale are still open, closing on Friday 26th May.

The 8yo Shantou gelding was last seen winning a Beginners’ Chase at Thurles in December before losing the Grade 3 Naas Novice Chase after a Stewards’ Enquiry in late January. The Willie Mullins-trained grey is also an 8-length Punchestown maiden hurdle winner, a 10-length Leopardstown bumper winner, and a winner of his sole point-to-point start over 3m at Bishops Court in 2019.

Ramillies is out of Mrs Wallensky, herself a multiple winner and Graded placed mare, and from the family of Aintree Festival winner Shannon Glen.

James Richardson, CEO of ThoroughBid, said: “We’re delighted to have Ramillies in the June Sale catalogue. Having been purchased for back in 2019, he’s won over hurdles and fences, including picking up prize money in Grade 1 company at the Cheltenham Festival, and he looks a ready-made candidate for next season’s big staying chases.

“We’ve sold plenty for Willie [Mullins] now, and we also sold Dark Voyager well for the Donnellys back in September, so it’s great to have them entrust us with the sale of a nice horse like Ramillies. We anticipate that having a quality chaser like him listed amongst the lots will bring lots of online footfall to the June Sale catalogue, for which entries are still open and closing next Friday.”

The June Sale will take place on Wednesday 7th June, with the bidding running from 9am-12pm. Entries close on Friday 27th May.
