ROYAL ASCOT ENTRY
THUNDERBEAR holds an entry in the Jersey Stakes GR.3 on Saturday 24th June
THUNDERBEAR, an attractive son of Kodi Bear, a winner at 2 but shown huge progression this season. Firstly, when dispatching his rivals with consummate ease in a 6f Handicap at Nottingham on 2nd May off a mark of 85. Racing Post Analysis said:
"cruising through from last to first, helped by the leaders going hard but still impressive. The way he travelled here suggests he can hold his own in the higher grades he'll be forced into now."
He followed that performance up with a cracking run in the Lacken Stakes GR.3 when a fast finishing 4th only beaten a length and a quarter by the Aidan O'Brien trained The Antarctic, himself twice placed at the highest level including when 2nd to CHAMPION 2YO COLT, BLACKBEARD, in the MIDDLE PARK STAKES GR.1.
On THUNDERBEAR'S run the post race analysis said he:
"maintained the improvement shown in winning a 6f Nottingham handicap off a mark of 85. He was promoted 13lb for that to 98 and is likely to go into three figures now."
"He is firmly on the upgrade now."
His handler, a rising star in the Irish training ranks, Jack Davison anticipates a busy campaign with the three-year-old:
“This is an exciting season with him, kicking off at Royal Ascot but also eyeing up all the big sprints across the UK and Ireland. Races like the Haydock Sprint Cup, Stewards’ Cup and Champions Sprint back at Ascot are certainly on his agenda, and we’d love to campaign him overseas too. Something like the Al Quoz sprint next year, while a long way off, is a nice target we’ve got in the back of our minds.”
