CHRIS BARBER’S DANCINNTHEMOONLITE TOPS MARCH SALE

Mar 22, 2024

Thursday 21st March – Dancinnthemoonlite has topped ThoroughBid’s March Sale, selling for £16,500.

The four-year-old filly by Pether’s Moon has been purchased by Ben Clarke, the same trainer who purchased Endless Escape on ThoroughBid in 2022. She went on to win four consecutive races followed by a respectable seventh in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

Dancinnthemoonlite, who was a close second on her point-to-point debut – her only start to date, is now eligible for ThoroughBid’s £5,000 Point2Rules Bonus, which rewards pointers bought at racing’s online auction house with £5,000 if they win their first start Under Rules.

The March Sale also saw another two Point2Rules Bonus-eligible pointers sell; Cresswell Oak, a six-year-old Telescope gelding, and Max Comley’s Two Become One, a five-year-old by Pillar Coral who had placed on his point-to-point debut and was purchased by the Sette A Milano Syndicate and looks to be going into training with Gordon Elliott.

Also amongst the sold lots were Glenister, a five-time winner on the Flat, who sold for Roarpride Racing’s James Williams, wildcard entry Child Of Lir, a winner on the All-Weather for Rebecca Menzies who sold to Ben Lund Racing, and a three-year-old store filly by Getaway, who has been purchased by Adam Morgan.

Chris Barber, consignor of Dancinnthemoonlite, said: "I chose ThoroughBid for selling this filly because we've used it to sell a Pether's Moon before, very successfully. The £5,000 Point2Rules Bonus is a massive incentive too, especially with her being GBB Bonus eligible.

"The bonus is a great initiative from ThoroughBid and selling horses on there is very easy; you don't have to take them away from home and they can sell while they're standing in their stables.

"I was very happy with the price we got for her and with the home she's going to, but ThoroughBid's Risk-Free Consignment meant that, if we hadn't sold her, we'd have lost nothing by listing her in the first place, so it was a no-brainer."

James Richardson, CEO of ThoroughBid, said: “ThoroughBid’s £5,000 Point2Rules Bonus has again proved a great incentive for vendors and buyers alike, and we’re delighted to have sold three point-to-pointers in the March Sale with a realistic chance of winning the bonus when they debut Under Rules in due course.

“Our offer of Risk-Free Consignment attracted a good-sized catalogue and the bidding period saw some competitive bidding.

“We wish all purchasers the very best of luck with their new stock and we hope to see some Point2Rules Bonus winners come through soon!”
